Let’s be honest (why does this sentence feel like deja vu?) … the length of time between these blog posts means I need to reteach myself how to actually post them each time.
😆
Now straight to the point of this message. 🤭
Fast forward and my children, for which I created AP Pressing, are now in Secondary school. Transitioning through each educational phase (Kinder, Primary, Secondary, Higher Education) or even each year can be challenging and personal adjustments often need to be made to journey through successfully.

We strap on for potential rollercoaster vibes …

Every phase of our children’s growth and educational journey is important and requires different levels of patience, understanding, communication, learning (both children and carers), resilience all round, acceptance of change and possibly chocolate (or any other sometimes food of choice). 😅

What I tend to do in these (sometimes) intense moments is eat lots of chocolate … I mean search for words to try and trigger a positive response to the reality that is.

How can my words help my children and others – while allowing independence to figure some things out alone too?

On that note, strap in for my high school transition poem that played a positive part in our journey. I hope it does to yours as well.
🤞
It’s called Rollercoaster High because rollercoasters 🎢 always have some high points and those can feel great (but also ups ☺️ and downs 😬). So let’s take all the moments in – especially the highs, turn them into positive energy to hopefully fuel an enjoyable ride overall …

Transitioning to high school can be overwhelming and scary.
Some teachers are strict and some of them quite kind and merry.

Homework starts to pile, if you don’t try and keep up –
just go away you wish …
And the timetable well that’s a whole different kettle of fish.

Friendships can make you nervous, we’re all different in so many ways.
Sometimes you feel like you’ve been there, for a million and one days.

Something cringe happens and you just think “Get out!”
Work on your character, avoid drama and annoying self-doubt.

Focus on doing the things that you enjoy.
High school is there to empower not to destroy.

We aim for it to get easier, it’s a lot about acceptance.
The friends and the work can get better, through dedication and attendance.

Know that you do have supporters around you.
Teachers and friends – your family surrounds too.

So if times get a little rough, you know who to go to.
There are so many things, that can help motivate you.

Deep breaths may seem small, but are very effective.
Try and focus on the good things – a positive perspective.

With time your confidence will gradually grow.
So many people are proud of you – more than you know.

Be proud of yourself and all your successes.
Your hard work, perseverance and all your progresses.

🤗

I started this post with the intention that it will be short. Maybe the next one in 2028 🤣

Hope the journey to any transition for you and your children is always smooth and you take in any breathtaking views from those rollercoaster high points!

💞
